I am 29 years old and I had my first kidney stone when I was 18. It required a lithotripsy and from then on I have had a kidney stone that has required a lithotripsy every year for the past 11 years. I am now 29 and just received a Cystinuria diagnosis. Kidney stones have caused me so much pain over the years and many surgeries. When I was 21, I even had a kidney stone in each of my ureters, blocking my kidney function and almost went into kidney failure. I have always wondered why I got them so often and so severe… The pain is unbearable and usually puts me out for about a month which affects my work and personal life. I am so grateful to have finally received a diagnosis and to be able to start treatment.
